Well, the story goes we wore the clothes and I’m supposed to say something about this, I guess….so we recorded it in 2016/17, which is certainly not as long ago as 1980, when we did the vinyl single. It’s an EP. An extended player to the uninitiated! I don’t know if they’re fashionable again, EP’s, or just completely forgotten.

Back in the day, you could only get so much music on a 7” single or 45. Some bands didn’t want to, or weren’t allowed to, do a whole album but they had more songs to sell than just A and B; hence the EP: a kind of middle-ground, a stop-over.

I’ve always had a soft spot for EPs, ever since I bought The Beatles Long Tall Sally EP. I love the cover, for a start, ‘cos it looks like only Ringo was ready for the photo! Then there’s four tracks instead of two, and you know that can’t be bad!

These days it’s a nonsense, of course ‘cos you are not constrained by the size of the cd or download, only to put a few tracks on, but what the heck! - an EP is an EP, after all.

So here it is. I don’t really know where this came from, or why, but we had some songs and 5 was just enough, plus, we always wanted to do a better recording of that early hit Going Back To Babylon - but the others are different territory entirely; sprawling pianos and backwards tapes and that’s just the start.

About Me

I was born in 1859 but frozen in ice in 1882 by my enemy, the Big Figure. Luckily, I was revived in 1997 by reversing the polarity of the flux capacitor. I look pretty young but I'm just backdated.
